AEOS Queries
1.Could you please advise if a farmer can plant a hedgerow (in AEOS)
on the outer side of a boundary fence i.e roadside. He will still have
to erect a fence to the road side of the planted hedge. Farmers
generally own to the middle of the road, however this area may /
maynot be included in a LPIS number. This can be digitised if required?
ANSWER: NO. WE WILL NOT PAY FOR HEDGEROWS ESTABLISHED OUTSIDE FARMERS
BOUNDARIES.
DO NOT PLANT HEDGEROWS ON THE OUTERSIDE OF BOUNDARY FENCES ESPECIALLY
ON ROADSIDES.
NRA HAVE PLANTED HEDGEROWS ON THESE AREAS IN PAST AS PART OF
ROADWORKS; LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVE BYE LAWS IN RELATION TO MAKING
FARMERS REMOVE DANGER TREES ETC OVERHANGING ROADS.
2. If providing an alternative water sourse for animals and the farm
contains a watercourse that is used for access (crossing) between
plots is this acceptable.
yES: PROVIDED WATER COURSE IS FENCE ACCROSS THE FLOW AND ANIMALS ARE
NOT ALLOWED TO LINGER IN THE WATER: PUT A GATE ON EITHER SIDE.
3. Can additional apple trees (min. 10) be planted in an existing
orchard and will this qualify? Existing trees are scarce and new trees
will help to complete orchard.
ANSWERE: NO. CAN PLANT ORCHARD ADJACENT TO OLD ONE: THE ORCHARD
COSTING INCLUDES A SUM FOR THE LOSS OF PRODUCTION FROM THE LAND. THIS
WOULD NOT BE THE SITUATION IN THE SCENARIO ABOVE.
